"There are a lot of great ski resorts in the United States, but none can match Sun Valley’s rich winter sports history - this was the nation’s first destination ski resort, with the world’s first chairlifts, where the very idea of the American ski vacation was born. Sun Valley changed the paradigm, and immediately became a hot spot for the biggest celebrities, the most important VIPs, and the world’s best skiers (and later snowboarders), and they have all been coming back ever since." -Larry Olmsted, Forbes Magazine

Sun Valley is a resort town in Idaho. It's known for Sun Valley resort's ski areas at Bald Mountain and nearby Dollar Mountain, the latter with gentler slopes. In summer, the resort has miles of mountain trails, equestrian routes, and wildflower-filled meadows. Numerous other trails start from areas around town like Fox Creek and Trail Creek, which offers a path up Proctor Mountain for valley views.

OUR STORY

"We had a vision, to reclaim this amazing building." -Paul Hineman, Owner

The Elkhorn Inn was built in 2008. Originally Elkhorn Springs Restaurant, the building was erected right in the middle of Elkhorn Village, overlooking Elkhorn Pond. It held wedding parties, dinner guests, and other event specials.

From Sun Valley Magazine

"Newly constructed and completed in 2008, the restaurant features the finest commercial cooking equipment, 800-square-foot steel patina wood burning fireplace, beautiful décor and much more." (www.sunvalleymag.com)

The restaurant closed and was listed on the market until 2015, when Paul Hineman and his colleagues decided to purchase the building in order to recondition it as a small resort center. Paul saw that the restaurant was built with such attention to detail, that he knew he could recondition it into something very special. He wanted to keep the charming atmosphere but redirect the function of the building. Paul asked the city of Sun Valley to rezone the building and then went to work building in five bedroom suites into the reconstituted inn.

From The Idaho Mountain Express

"The Sun Valley Planning and Zoning Commission has supported using the vacant Elkhorn Springs restaurant as a convention and events center.... The commissioners voted 5-0 to support the changes... The new vision for the space entails conventions, conferences, receptions, seminars, product displays and recreation activities, as well as a corporate retreat center, according to the staff report. 'They’re the type of customer that our valley covets and craves,' George Kirk told the Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday morning."

In early 2018, construction was completed and the newly christened Elkhorn Inn was established. Home now to visitors from around the world, Elkhorn Inn supports up to twelve guests at a time. Leveraging its placement as the center of Elkhorn Village, the Inn is a stone's throw to the city transit, the heated pool, the tennis courts, the golf course, and the lift to Dollar Mountain. Be assured that the Inn has everything you need to host a family getaway, a small corporate event, a wedding, or any other event would you like to have in Sun Valley.
